[council]
The Garland Women's Activities Building Council, begun in 1976, is a non-profit organization dedicated to maintaining a home for Garland's clubs and societies. The building was meant to be a home for various women's activities, but the council found out very soon that men's groups wanted to use it too. The first year the main tenant was a church, and over the years the use has expanded to weddings, family reunions, political groups, and many others.
